13 Days until Christmas! =)
Been trying to be productive with my time off. Here's some of what I've been up to lately:
- Swimming in the safe confines of a pool: A lecturer of mine was part of the Australian women's waterpolo team that competed at the Olympics. She gave a lecture about the shoulder and talked about the biomechanics of swimming. Now, whenever I swim I feel like I'm overthinking everything. There's the catch phase, the pull phase, trying to lead with the elbow first, rotating on a longitudinal axis. Ahhh! I can't just swim anymore!!
- Beach: Played in the waves with KP and Scott. I still find it amazing that I can just go and play in the ocean when I feel like it. Just gotta watch out for those sharks! KP lent me her body board for the summer. Anyone interested in coming with me to try it?
- 24 tv series Season 5: Finally got a chance to watch the dvd's my brother sent me. Finished watching the whole season in about 4-5 days? =)
- Movie Night @ CW's with ocfers: Watched Jumanji, Cars, and Zoolander. Cars is a cute movie. It reminded me of my 3 months in Markdale, Ontario.. don't think I could ever live in a place like that for long term though.
- Subi Street Party a couple weeks ago: I met up with TT and PS there. They had a petting farm, lots of street buskers out performing, live music playing, and stalls set up. Not a bad Sunday afternoon, though it was a bit hot out.
- WASO (Western Australia Symphony Orchestra) Concert: I went to this free outdoor concert on Sunday with LK. The night had a movie based theme. My favourites were the pieces from Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. It made me remember the band days from highschool. Maybe I'll dust off my trombone once I get home.
- Bass Guitar: Been trying to learn the bass. Learned some scales, Stand By Me, and some short tunes. I think I need some more direction as to what to practice next. Any suggestions? I guess I should figure out how a bass line actually goes.
- Sand Volleyball: Finally, some vball!!! =D It's been a long hiatus. I joined this 4-on-4 volleyball league with some classmates. We're Team Liger if you want to check out the ladder. Down side of playing in sand is that it gets EVERYWHERE!
- Miscellaneous Errands: Rear brakes replaced on my car, health insurance renewed, loan forms sent in, $1730 paid off for damage to the other car from my accident earlier this year =( The insurance company originally asked for $2156; however, some of the expenses on the receipt covered the repair of things that wouldn't have been damaged and seemed a little dodgy, so I called them. After a short conversation, they offered me the discount... not bad for a phone call. I wonder if I could've bargained them down. Hmmm...
- Practicing for my supp exam: Somewhat lacking motivation since I know that my treatment was fine and all I did wrong was transfer the patient onto their affected side from the wheelchair to the bed. I should've just walked them from the wheelchair and avoided the whole issue. Ah well, I suppose now I won't ever forget that again. The good news is that I might still be able to squeeze in my pracs and write the Canadian exam in May here. Here's hoping that there's no more delays!
